Percussion

Things to Consider in Choosing to Play Percussion

Although percussion instruction begins in 6th grade, it is not considered a beginner instrument because it is not played during the first 9 weeks.

In late November, students interested in playing percussion will be able to apply to transfer into the percussion section.  During the application process, the following things will be considered:

•Rhythmic Aptitude

•Coordination

•Student’s grade in band

•Classroom Behavior

Students interested in playing percussion should pick either flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet or trombone to start the 6th grade year.
